Baby Block Favors!

I wanted to make some favors for a baby shower we were having for a girl at church this past Sunday. I had these blue boxes I bought from Michael's. I thought they would look cute to set out on the table. It was a really nice shower for Amy and she received lots of gifts! She had a baby boy and named him Caiden!

I used the deckle spellbinder and ran it thru the cuttlebug.....yes it did take me awhile to do that! I made up 35 boxes! Whewww....Then I used my cricut for the letters. Boxes were filled with lots of candy!

Not 1, Not 2, But 3 Cards!

Whewwww! It's been way to long! I finally made a few cards! With tax season behind me at church and jury duty almost completed (this Friday) I can't wait to start making cards again! I really need to stock up on the general types of cards. The first card went really quick and I like how it turned out!

Supplies Used:
Stamps-I Cling Wild Flowers (from Michael's) & PTI
Paper-PTI True Black, Vintage Cream, & DCWV LeCreme
Inks-Stazon, Versamark
Extra-McGill MutiTag Scallop punch,Ranger black EP,
black brad, sheer ribbon.

The next card I had started way back in summer when I got home from Gatlinburg. We met my SIL Beth and her family down there. They were staying for a while but we went down for a day and had fun shopping at the Super Scrapbook Store together. I bought some new JustRite stamp sets and knew which one I wanted to use to make a special card for Sandy. I stamped and punched out the center and it just set on my desk forever. This past week I made her card. It was hard to get a good picture but here it is:

Supplies Used:
Stamp-JustRite Kaleidoscope Set
Paper-Hip & Lux. Basics from My Mind's Eye Lush, PTI Vintage Cream
Ink- ColorBox Celadon
Extra-Spellbinders, Cuttlebug Border Embosser, MS Double Arch Punch,
My Mind's Eye Lush Rhinestones-blue, cream satin ribbon.

Update on Sandy- She had her stem cell transplant in November and was in the hospital for 3 weeks. It was a really rough time for her. When she got out she came and stayed a week with us. She went home for the holidays and loved being with her family. She has had a lot of struggles. Mainly not eating. She can't taste anything and she can't hardly swallow. Her mouth is so dry. They have done many test on her and everything keeps coming back good, praise God for that! Time will tell how much better it will get. She has lost 100 pounds and is looking great. The most recent trouble are her kidneys loosing quite a bit of function. So we will have to find out what is going on with that. She has come back to church 2 weeks ago and it was so good to see here there. The great news is that she and her daughter's family are all going down to Florida this spring to spend a week with her Dad. How exciting is that!!!!
Now, for my last card, sad but true, I made this card back in August for Rachel's birthday and never got around to posting it. She loves cupcakes and I found this paper and went with it.

Supplies Used:
Stamp- SU So Many Scallops, and I can't remember the inside stamp
Paper-DCWV The Sweet, PTI Dark Chocolate & white
Ink- ColorBox Yellow Citrus
Extra-Spellbinders, PTI Dark Chocolate Ribbon, Tim H. Brads, Kaisercraft
Rhinestones-yellow, corner punch and scor pal.

Well, that's it for today and I think I will be working on favor boxes for a baby shower this weekend at church. I need to see if we still need them. If we do I am going to make them look like a baby block. So cricut here I come!!!

Thinking of you, Sandy!!!

I made this card to send to my SIL, Sandy. She has been so strong, going through 2 very strong chemo treatments....3 days each in the hospital, since the first week of June. We are waiting 2 more weeks to see if her tumors have shrunk enough so they can start her stem cell transplant in August. If they haven't, they will put her back in the hospital for the third round of chemo. If you would, please take a small amount of your time after you read this and say a prayer for Sandy. Love ya girl, and I'm in awe of your strength and your faith that has never waiver.

I Can Do Anything!

I made this card for my daughter, Rachel. Thursday she starts a new job, what she calls "My Big Girl Job!" She graduated this past December with a degree in Business Management. When Rach turned 16, she had me take her to Bob Evans Restaurant to apply for a serving job. She has worked there for almost 7 years. Also, over 3 years ago she applied to Montgomery Inn Boathouse over looking the Ohio River. She was hired in as a hostess, while working on getting her experience(at Bob Evans) to become a server there. To serve at the boathouse, you need 4 years of serving experience. It's one of Cincinnati's Finest Restaurant.......all the Cincinnati Bengals eat there, all out of town sports teams, lots of celebrities such as our local- Nick Lachey, and the most famous person she has waited on, was President, George W. Bush! She was on the news and in the newspaper with the President!!! How many can say that??? After a 1 1/2 years they made her a server there. She has done so much already with her life, worked 2 part time jobs while going to school full time. This past month she applied to Bob Evans for a managers job and they hired her, being the youngest manager at 22.

She can't wait to start this new phase of her life. If your wondering, yes, she is still hanging on to her job at the Boathouse. She told them that she will be training for about 10 weeks and they are willing to work with her. She is such a hard worker. We had fun today shopping for new clothes for her new job. Rachel will be getting up at 4:00 A. M. to be there by 5:00!!! We're SO PROUD OF YOU, RACHEL! LOVE YA, Mom & Dad.

I know, I love this polka dot paper!

Thanks A Bunch!

What a beautiful day we're having! It's 85 and hot. I came in from outside working on opening up the pool. Wish I could jump in, but it's not ready yet. Adding more water to it and need to scrub the cover. I will miss my pool cover friends. I would go out between 6-7 most evenings and feed bread to my married couple--the mallard ducks. I also will miss seeing a hawk bathe himself and the frog or toad..could never tell which, I will miss his croaking at night. I know the mallards will be back next year because we 've had them for several years now. The others I will have to wait to see. Below is the hawk and I will see if I can find the duck pics from last year. (I think it's on my old computer). Enjoy!

Hawk

Finally, I got to play with my goodies and made this card. I wanted to make a fast card and challenged myself not to use ribbon or a border punch. I always use both on my cards and thought let's make this simple today. This is what I came up with, but I did use pearls.... I would say 95% of the cards I make I use pearls or rhinestones. Gotta have them!

Cutest Little Favor Boxes!

Last week was our Mother-Daughter Luncheon at church and I made these up. My SIL, Sandy made Petit Fours to put in them. I had bought this Martha Stewart favor box set, awhile back when they were in the clearance aisle at Michaels. They were originally $19.99 for a box of 24 and I paid $3.99 for each one! I purchased the 2 boxes that they had. What a deal! Each of the 48 boxes were stamped 8 different times....my hand did get tired!!! I used a mixture of many different stamp sets. The Ink is PTI's Rasberry Fizz and of course it looked too plain and I did put a pearl on both ends in the middle of the flourish. I really loved how they turned out and they went so well with Sandy's pink and yellow color scheme. The boxes were sat at each plate setting.

All stamped up and....

Ready to fold.

Aren't the liners cute!

All ready for the sweet treat to be added!

Ready to go.

Close up.

Look closely, can you see the pearl?

This is the box set.

I went back to Michaels this week and didn't find any more of this box set, but found a square "Tiffany's Blue" color box set and can't wait to use them!

I don't love it...but I don't want to mess with it anymore! So, here's the card, it's been sitting here long enough. I bought the 2 stamps last year when I went to the CHA show in Orlando. WoooHooo! I Won--Twice

I'm on a lucky streak!!! Last week I signed up to be a follower on Elizabeth Crocker's blog. Her generous gift was to let the person who would be her 50th follower pick a print from her gallery of photos. Well, Beth let us know that 2 of us signed up at the same time and she is letting us both be winners! Beth has a huge gallery in Flickr of her work. She takes a variety of different subjects-- which made my choice very hard. I had a half a dozen I was looking at, but when it was all said and done I choose "Beautiful Blue Boken," it's a flower that grows in the state of Texas, which is where Beth is from. Visit her gallery and her blog Here.

Then yesterday when I got home from church, I checked and saw that I won a very cute stamp from Debbie Doncaster all the way from South Yorkshire, United Kingdom! How cool is that! Debbie cards are done beautifully with her use of Copic Markers. Also on her blog, she has outstanding pictures of her garden. Visit her blog Here.
This is the stamp:

I can't wait to receive them! It's been a lot of fun meeting people from all over the world. Thanks again to both girls for being so kind!!!

Peace and Comfort For a Friend

Hi Ladies! How's your Wednesday late afternoon going? It's such a beautiful day today, I just love the sunshine! I made this card for a friend at church. She has had it very, very, rough for the last 6 months or so. Her young daughter just finished up all her treatments for breast cancer. She just returned from out of town after celebrating the last treatment and came home to some very sad news that her mother only had a few months to live. Well, this past week her mother died. She has really gone through a lot and I wanted to make her up a card. I hope it picks her up even if it's for only a few seconds.
